Interactive Smoothing

Ok, so this one uses a free plugin, but if you REALLY wanted, you could make it with just Fusion tools.  Exercise left to the reader though, especially those poor Rotation users.

Unlike the previous example, this one does NOT bake out all the animation to one image, but instead uses an animated image to represent the data over time.  This makes it interactive and allows it to work with motion blur.

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

The green one is the original animation (a mix of path and perturb), the magenta is just a Gaussian blur of the path over 15 frames.  The orange one always points ahead of the green dot, like a laser scope.  The yellow cloud is just the green with a LOT of noise added in, and the blue circle is a “tailgater” that always chases behind the green one.

And of course, a little comp to light the way…  When you move the green spot, the blue one (almost) instantly adjusts.
